2007 brought our site a lot more visitors than before and therefor we are very happy!

132.426 people visited our site, processing more than 500.000 page-views.
Most busy day was July 9 ‘07 with 1065 unique visitors.

More than 200 photos were sent during the 2007 photo contest. Mr. Donev from Bulgaria won the 150 Euro for sending the winning photo.

For us 2008 will be the year of improving our pages, update and adding information and promoting the hotel review section.

Also we are looking forward to the 2008 photo contest and all the beautiful photos that you will sent.

The area of Siviri and Nea Skioni were hit the worst by the floods. Trees, vehicles, houses and roads were damaged by the floods.

According to fire brigade officer Giorgos Minos the burnt forests contributed to the floods, which swept cars into the sea.

This brings the provisional figure to this point in the 2007 forest fire season in Greece to 268834 hectares.

The concentration of damage in the Peloponnese coincides with the fire danger maps produced by EFFIS Fire Danger system that shows the Peloponnese as being the area of Greece with highest meteorological fire risk.

However, the forecasts for the coming days show that the fire risk in Greece in general and the Peloponnese in particular will reduce.

More than 1.150.000 tourist visited Halkidiki, showing a rising tendency of 10%.  There has been an overall rising tendency in all fields:  the number of German as well as the English, the Czech and the Hungarian arrivals show a rise of 5,5%, while the number of Russian visitors arriving to Halkidiki in 2006 showed a rise of 25-30%.

Also, there has been a immense rising tendency in the number of visitors from the Balkan region and especially from Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia.

Visitors from these countries arrive to Halkidiki by car and without any delays at the borders. Estimated figures of visitors in the region for 2007 exceed the 5-8%.

The minister added that the 2004 Games were a landmark for Greece’s tourism sector, as the Olympics again placed Greece on the global tourism map.

Petralia said better exploitation of the country’s international image after the Games has had as a measurable impact on the number of tourists choosing Greece, with an increase in tourism of 5.6 % in 2005 and 8.44 % in 2006 (when tourist arrivals reached a record 15.7 million) while the increase in 2007 was anticipated at nearly 10 %.

In addition, there was also an increase in tourism revenues, of particular importance for the entire economy’s growth, the minister said.

Strong storms and winds hit Thessaloniki, Halkidiki and Pieria last night. As a result, a camping in Leptokaria, Pieria hosting children with special needs was evacuated for precautionary reasons. In parallel, the Fire Brigade in Thessaloniki has received 35 calls from civilians to pump water out of their homes and basements.

The landslides recorded on the Thessaloniki - Nea Moudania highway did not create any traffic problems, while “Macedonia” Airport closed due to zero visibility caused by thick fog. In parallel, 10 flights had to be diverted to Athens and Kavala.
