Thessaloniki


Visit Thessaloniki, second largest city of Greece and capital city of Macedonia, with approximately 1 million inhabitants.

Thessaloniki attracts hundreds of thousands visitors each year and is famous for it's Byzantine churches, shopping center, trendy coffee bars & exceptional nightlife.

The women of Thessaloniki are considered to be the most elegantly dressed in Greece so it will not be a surprise to hear that Thessaloniki's shopping center is packed with fashion boutiques, jewelers and shoe shops.

In Thessaloniki's city center you will find terraces on every corner and gyros/sandwich shops or Greek delicacy shops -from pastries to artwork- in every street.

The cities promenade, right at the sea side is full of crowded and trendy bars. Thessaloniki suffers form an eternal flow of cars and no matter when you are outside, it is always busy and crowded.

Archaeological Sites:
-Palace of Galerius at Navarino Square (300 A.D.),
-ruins of the Roman Market and Theatre at Law Court Square,
-Roman Baths (North of the church of Agios Dimitrios) and
-Nymphaion, an elegant circular building.

Museums in Thessaloniki:
In Thessaloniki there are numerous of museums. Most known museums are: the Archaeology Museum near the White Tower, the New Museum of Byzantine Culture, the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, the White Tower Museum and the Museum of Attaturk.

Thessaloniki Nightlife & Entertainment:
In and near the city center are the most known clubs like Fix, Decadence and Mylos. You will find a lot of clubs in the surroundings of Thessaloniki Airport as well.

Also, there is Magic Park (a sort of luna park near the airport), Waterland (Water park with Extreme slides, multi slides, crazy river, wave pool etc), and the modern Mediterranean Cosmos, a brand new huge shopping mall (with -again- trendy coffee bars).

How to get in Thessaloniki:
Bus: From Halkidiki, Thessaloniki can be easily reached by bus. For timetables please check http://www.in-ktel.gr/

Car: From Halkidiki follow the signs "Thessaloniki." It's a straight highway from Halkidiki to Thessaloniki and it will take you approximately 1 hour to reach Thessaloniki. When entering the city just drive towards the sea-side. Parking is (still) free at most places.
