Halkidiki Greece

Dear visitor,

Welcome to our new blog and welcome to Halkidiki in Greece!

Halkidiki is the peninsula with the characteristic of three ‘fingers’ (named as legs by Greeks) as appears on the map of Greece. The three fingers, the peninsulas Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos, differ from each other in many ways.

Kassandra is the most crowded and cosmopolitan peninsula. Some of the most famous and luxurious resorts are located on Kassandra and the most entertainment can be found there.

The villages Kallithea, Polychrono, Hanioti and Pefkohori are the most famous on the peninsula. Kallithea is popular for clubbing and an exciting nightlife.

The peninsula of Sithonia is less crowded and known compared to Kassandra but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it to go there. Sithonia’s nature is beautiful, there are numerous of beautiful beaches and pretty villages; Sarti, Vourvourou and Neos Marmaras are the most famous.

The peninsula of Mount Athos is the third peninsula of Halkidiki. Woman are not allowed to go there since it was decreed that “no smooth faced person” is permitted to violate its sanctity. Men can only enter with the proper papers. Mount Athos (or “Agion Oros”) is the exclusive domain for only monks and hermits. Enormous monasteries are build on the peninsula. Most of them you can see when you decide to take a boat trip around the peninsula.

Halkidiki has hundreds of kilometres of endless white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, pine tree forests, picturesque villages and archaeological findings. It definitely is one of the most beautiful destinations in Greece to spent your holidays!
